@CS11__ Yeah stakes did feel more real especially considering after season 5 in the original series, it kind of felt like Dexter got away with things for the sake of it, or the villains were weak. Kurt felt like a real match up to Dexter, and the setting really helped with that

@CS11__ Season 7 is definitely a step up, I still don’t feel like the rest of the seasons have the same feeling as the first 4 seasons of Dexter but S7 is definitely still exciting If you didn’t mind S6 though? I think you’ll enjoy S7 with little to no problems

Dexter S6 | Review Unfortunately. It’s my least favourite. It’s undoubtedly the weakest season of Dexter. But is it genuine bad? Fuck no. i continue to be happy to have stuck with the show. What S6 nails is Dexter’s life as a dad. It’s perfect. It’s really fantastic and sweet stuff. While i miss Astor and Cody a lot. I’m glad we got a focus on this side of things. I think it actually got more screen time than Dexter being a serial killer funnily enough. S6 is also very religious. Both in it’s Doomsday Killer Villain, and the faith journey Dexter goes on. I think it was well done. It’s interesting to have a villain like that, who’s wrongly inspired and uses that in his kills, while also having Dexter discovering religion through Brother Sam, who was great. I’m not religious so i have no real deep knowledge and analysis of it. But on the surface level it was interesting, while also maybe too overly reliant on it. For another season running Debra Morgan is my star. Her in the role of lieutenant is awesome. It’s such a great status quo and really refreshes her character. There’s the very glaring issue i have with her development, but i don’t need to hold it against her entire character. Let’s just say don’t fuck your brother. Quinn is fucked this season. Both his character and the interest the writers have for him. There’s some cool Batista moments, super fun stuff, but that’s it. They try and do this story of him going off the rails after losing Neb but they don’t give him the screen time to develop anything special, i really didn’t like that honestly. In the grand scheme of things. The story all pieces together quite well. But some episodes are a fucking slog. For about 9/12 episodes i found it near impossible to be truly hooked by the season. That’s my main issue. I almost had no excitement by each episode. And if you can’t get that right it’s hard to leave a lasting enjoyment. Brian’s return was great while also extremely underwhelming. A cool concept that feels like wasted potential. The Gellar twist revitalised the story, it gave everyone a spark that was needed. Not a great season. But an incredible ending that’s bursting with excitement going into S7, i can’t wait.
