I literally did this last Saturday. I organized a trans shopping trip aimed at women who were too nervous to shop on their own. 30 trans folks turned out. I helped one girl pick tops that looked good on her and I helped another pay because she was too nervous to do it herself.

Initiative is an unnecessary hold over from PvP focused games. Whether doing I-go-You-go or alternating turns, there's no reason that the PCs shouldn't always go first as the default (ambush, abilities, etc may change that) to save everyone some time and mental load.
