Gavin Newsom spends $30 billion a year on 800,000 "in-home caregivers," who mostly look after their own direct family members; the labor unions collect $150 million a year in dues, then spend millions to support Gavin Newsom. This is legalized corruption.

Every February, 70% of the commercial honey bees in the United States, roughly two million colonies, are loaded onto lorries and driven to California. They are going to pollinate the almonds. 80% of the world's almonds come from one valley in California. Over 1.3 million acres of nothing but almond trees, blooming for three weeks in monoculture, requiring more pollinators than the state can produce on its own. So the bees are trucked in from every corner of the country. Florida. New York. Montana. The bees are fed sugar water for the journey because their own honey has been removed to lighten the load. They arrive in the Central Valley to a landscape that is, for three weeks, pink and white blossom, and for the other forty-nine weeks of the year, dead. Nothing to eat. No forage. No diversity. Just almond trees and bare dirt, sprayed regularly with fungicides and insecticides that were deemed bee-safe in adult bees but turn out to be lethal to larvae when combined. In February 2025, commercial beekeepers reported the worst die-off on record. Around 60% of commercial honey bee colonies in the United States dead in a single pollination season. Financial losses estimated well over $139 million. Some beekeepers lost 90 to 100% of their colonies. The almonds are marketed as plant-based. Clean. Ethical. The preferred alternative. The preferred alternative requires the single largest managed pollination event in human history and it is quietly killing the pollinators faster than they can be replaced. Every glass of almond milk is, statistically, a small contribution to the largest pollinator die-off on record. This is not in the advertising.

I went into the Delta Force team room and one of them made a dick joke and all of his other stupid racist friends started laughing so I leaked top secret material to the press after hooking up with a few of them: One Woman’s Story

The Midwestern United States was, until relatively recently, sitting on top of some of the deepest topsoil on earth. Ten thousand years of prairie. Bison, fire, deep-rooted grasses, the slow accumulation of organic matter into a layer of black soil sometimes two feet thick. Soil that farmers in other parts of the world would have wept at the sight of. Then the plough arrived. In 2021, a team from the University of Massachusetts used satellite imagery and LiDAR to measure what was left. Their finding: roughly a third of the Corn Belt, around 30 million acres, has completely lost its A-horizon. The carbon-rich topsoil is simply gone. Scraped off the hilltops by a hundred and fifty years of tilling and rain, washed downslope, into rivers, into the Gulf. The USDA had previously estimated that none of those same fields had lost their topsoil. None. The satellites disagreed. Every year, the United States loses around five tons of soil per acre. Ten times the rate at which it forms. A layer as thick as a dime, peeled off every twelve months, across tens of millions of acres, and sent downhill. The crops being grown on this land, the corn and soy that replaced the prairie, are in large part used for ethanol, high fructose corn syrup, and livestock feed. The livestock feed portion is the only one that gets criticised in polite company. The prairie took ten thousand years to build. We scraped a third of it off in under two hundred. The people currently telling us to grow more crops instead of raising cattle are, presumably, unaware that the crops are already eating the ground they stand on.

The UK has a far flatter income distribution than the Communist Soviet Union. The UK take home minimum wage for working a full time job (40-hours) is now £22,555. At £100k salary, the take home is £68,558. That is a net income ratio of 3.04:1 We are now at the point where the wage compression and taxes in the UK means that the difference between minimum wage and a top 5% salary is a net income difference of only ~3x. In the USSR using the same comparison, this figure never fell below 5:1 It's actually even worse in reality because the person earning £100k in the UK often has student loans. Britain is nominally capitalist but functionally communist. China is nominally communist but functionally capitalist. Funny how that works.

Guys who don't fuck think that identifying with the emotional, female sexual experience is Game. They've never been pulled into a bathroom stall at the club to get head from two women who just wanted him because he was hot.
Diane Yap@RealDianeYap

Husbands, women don't care about sex for the sake of sex. Your wife wants someone to connect with, someone who affirms her, sees her, accepts her. Someone she feels close to. Stop telling her she owes you duty sex. Stop making your base physical urges her problem.

A male orangutan started bottle-feeding four orphaned tiger cubs after watching his human caretakers. Suryia lived at Myrtle Beach Safari, a wildlife preserve in South Carolina in the United States. In 2015 the cubs were just one to two months old and had been rejected by their mothers. He paid close attention to every step the keepers took. He began copying them perfectly. He held the bottles steady while the cubs drank, let them climb all over him, cuddled with them gently, and stayed perfectly still so they could sleep against him.

If a man buys the wrong kind of milk, it’s “weaponized incompetence”. If a man asks what the right kind of milk is, it’s “not carrying the mental load.” The majority of the mental load women complain about is just their preference that they label as “the only correct way.”

In 1966, a B-52 collided with a tanker over Palomares, Spain, dropping 4 hydrogen bombs. 3 were found on land; 1 vanished into the Mediterranean. The US Navy spent months searching with no luck. They called in a mathematician named John Craven, who ignored the expert search grids. Instead, he used Bayes' Theorem. He asked various salvage experts to bet on different scenarios (e.g., "What is the likelihood the parachute deployed?"). He treated their guesses as Priors. As the submersibles searched areas & found nothing (Evidence), he used the formula to update the probability map. The bomb was found exactly where the Bayesian map said it would be, an area the expert searchers had previously dismissed as highly unlikely.

Many immigrants come to America because their nations of origin suck. But when they come to America they do not want to adapt to the norms that make America not suck, prefering to keep those norms that made their home countries suck. These people should stay in Suckistan.
Shadi Hamid@shadihamid

Should a minority community's right to be in America depend on their willingness to converge with the cultural mainstream? No, it shouldn't depend on that. It shouldn't depend on anything. We're all Americans, after all.
