"The early Internet did not win because it was a prettier network. It won because it introduced a neutral protocol layer that let independent systems interoperate without asking a central operator for permission. That was the breakthrough. Open architecture networking turned fragmented machines and networks into a shared communications substrate. TCP/IP was not just “faster telecom.” It was a new base layer for information transfer. That is the right frame for Kaspa. Kaspa is not interesting because it is “another fast chain.” That misses the point. The deeper similarity is architectural. It is trying to do for value transfer what the Internet did for information transfer: create an open, high-speed, permissionless protocol layer that others can build on top of, without rebuilding trust every time. That is why the BlockDAG matters. Instead of forcing economic activity through a single serialized lane, Kaspa’s GHOSTDAG orders parallel block creation in consensus. The result is not just more speed. It is a different kind of base-layer design, one built for open settlement under real network conditions. And this is where the comparison gets stronger. The Internet did not stop at packet delivery. Higher layers emerged on top of the common base and unlocked entirely new classes of applications. Kaspa’s research direction points toward a similar expansion. Verifiable programs push computation offchain, then prove correctness back to the base layer. That preserves speed without turning the foundation into bloated global state. Same pattern. Keep the base layer lean. Keep it open. Let the protocol scale the civilization built on top of it."

@Grayscale - and for those not picking up on the “OP_CAT++” signal... What we believe Yonatan is pointing to with the conceptual shorthand “OP_CAT++” is not an incremental extension of scripting, but a shift toward transaction logic that can express and enforce outcomes directly at the L1, at the level of the ledger itself. In Bitcoin, OP_CAT stands for Operation Concatenate. It’s a proposed opcode that allows a transaction to combine pieces of data so more complex conditions can be evaluated. It existed in early Bitcoin and was later disabled due to concerns around security and abuse. The scripting system was intentionally kept constrained to preserve predictability and safety. That’s why OP_CAT discussions today matter. They signal a careful move toward more expressive transaction logic. On #Kaspa, the direction extends further. Covenants are not simply more complex scripts. They allow rules to be attached to value itself. Those rules persist, and every future transaction must comply with them. The network enforces that, not an external system. The ledger verifies transactions and enforces outcomes. Why this matters: When value can carry its own rules, new classes of assets, agreements, and systems become possible directly on the ledger. These are enforced at the base layer, not dependent on overlays or external coordination. This is the direction being signaled with Toccata. It reflects an expansion in what the network can be trusted to do. While Bitcoin is exploring ways to reintroduce primitives that enable these capabilities, Kaspa is developing a system designed to support them natively through covenant logic and emerging zk-based approaches, with scale as a core consideration. Worth keeping an eye on #Kaspa as this layer develops, @Grayscale. As programmability matures, it has the potential to become a serious contender for asset issuance, management, and what can be described as sovereignty as a service.

#Kaspa is gaining attention for its fast transactions and BlockDAG tech. Launched in 2021, it offers one second blocks, quick confirmations, and low fees on pure Proof of Work. Some call it a future big player. Others say hype. Bull Case: Strong tech plus smart contracts and big supply cut in 2026 could drive real adoption.

If you are struggling to explain why Kaspa is important to non crypto people then feel free to use this elevator pitch: “Do you trust that governments are looking out for your best interest more than you are or do you trust banks care about your money more than you do? If you don’t then it’s worth studying Kaspa” $KAS

Andrej, I’m John Fletcher. I have a PhD in mathematics and theoretical physics from Cambridge, and since 2016 I have been working full-time on the problem of how to coordinate untrusted distributed compute for algorithmic innovation. I listened to your No Priors conversation and recognised the architecture you were describing: commits that build on each other, computational asymmetry (hard to find, cheap to verify), an untrusted pool of workers collaborating through a blockchain-like structure. The result is The Innovation Game (TIG), which has been in continuous operation since mid-2024. The correspondence is so close that I thought it worth writing. The short version: roughly 7,000 Benchmarkers test algorithms submitted by Innovators by solving instances of asymmetric computational challenges (SAT, Vehicle Routing, Quadratic Knapsack, Vector Search, among others). This testing is "proof of work" in the technical sense of Dwork and Naor (1992). Innovators earn rewards proportional to adoption by the Benchmarkers. The repository of algorithms is open source (github.com/tig-foundation…). The system is already producing state-of-the-art results. For the Quadratic Knapsack Problem, 476 iterative submissions by independent contributors brought solution quality to a level that now exceeds methods published by Hochbaum et al. in the European Journal of Operational Research (2025). We are working with Thibaut Vidal (Polytechnique Montréal), who has submitted a state-of-the-art vehicle routing algorithm directly to TIG, and with Yuji Nakatsukasa (Oxford) and Dario Paccagnan (Imperial College London), among many others. One of TIG’s active challenges is directly relevant to your autoresearch work: an optimiser for neural network training (play.tig.foundation/challenges?cha…), where Innovators compete to develop an improved optimiser (see screenshot). One way in which TIG extends the vision is on the economic side. In our view, a monetary incentive is required, otherwise the open strand simply cannot compete at scale. TIG’s open source dual licensing model (designed by my co-founder Philip David, who was General Counsel at Arm Holdings for over a decade, and was the artchitect of ARMs licensing strategy) is intended to solve that problem. I expect we have each thought about parts of this that the other hasn’t. Happy to talk whenever suits. John Fletcher tig.foundation

NO TX, NO STATE CHANGE

I wrote a PoC token contract in Silverscript, currently called DOG20 (better name ideas are welcome). It supports token ownership by 3 kinds of entities: 1. Public keys — like any regular Kaspa address. 2. P2SH addresses — which means ownership by a stateless contract, e.g. multisig. 3. Covenant IDs — which means ownership by a stateful contract. The third option is the interesting one, and it's a demonstration of a broader concept (that might be familiar to whoever watched the webinar by @IzioDev and @michaelsuttonil), called inter-covenant-communication (ICC). In this context, it means you can put arbitrary stateful rules around token control. For example: - “after the first 10 spends, wait a year before spending again” - zk-rollups can manage their L1 tokens using a stateful bridge. DOG20 also supports minters that are allowed to mint indefinitely — but that does not mean the supply must be unbounded. Let's say you want to publish a token and allow to issue only 100 new tokens each month. DOG20 doesn't support it natively, but you can achieve that by making the only minting entity a covenant. That covenant will store in its state `nextIssuance`, and will allow spends of 100 tokens only if `time > nextIssuance`, and will set `nextIssuance = nextIssuance + 30 days` each time it's used. I hope to explain about it a bit more in the future, but in the meantime, feel free to look at the examples linked in the next comment.

PROVING that it is possible to run a social network like X on #Kaspa is a statement - all on PoW. What this means? $KAS DagKnight security is better than Bitcoin (Nakamoto consensus without a hardcoded worst case scenario) and scalability as fast as the internet itself. Optical PoW would make Kaspa as fast as light, but that's in store for later. This is only the start. youtu.be/B8Zqzhlrc2s
