The EPA estimated radon causes 21 thousand U.S. lung cancer deaths per year, with smokers having a 10x greater risk. Only testing can reveal radon levels – an odorless, invisible gas that can enter your home through cracks or well water. When buying, selling, renovating, spending extended time in basement or if levels are unknown, test both your home and well water for contamination. The Oklahoma Well Owners Network does NOT test for radon in water but offers free water screening events for other common contaminates to help you protect your water. Upcoming Opportunity! The Environmental Federation of Oklahoma is pleased to announcement that three university scholarships will be offered for the 2026-2027 scholastic year. The scholarships will be awarded to support students in their studies in one of the core fields of current EHS professionals.
