The Kangaroos tour is officially back — and here to stay. Australia’s successful trip through England has led to the IRL locking in a Kangaroo tour every four years. “We want to reintroduce a beloved rugby league tradition, being the Kangaroos tour and the Ashes,” said IRL chairman Troy Grant. Over 130,000 fans attended the Tests, with around a million viewers tuning in for each match in England. “It will rebuild a rugby league narrative that was lost for two decades,” Grant added. “The Kangaroo tour for the Ashes will feature as an ongoing regular tour every four years.” England will likely tour Australia in 2028, following New Zealand’s British tour in 2027.
