They donโt know how war works and they donโt know how negotiations workโbut they do know how grift works. Our oligarchs will make money, Putin will make money, and thatโs the only "victory" they care about. As a war this is obviously a defeat for the USโhad the US won it would be dictating terms.

it does seem as if a foreign adversary has taken over the US & in plain view is dismantling its programs, institutions, missions & ideals. the most acute observers among younger generations must be looking upon this with dismay, despair, outrage--their US will be tragically diminished compared to the US most of us grew up in. it's hard to believe that much of US science research is being terminated -- the country used to be so proud of its great scientists. not to mention medical research.
