The people want no bases. The government wants no enemies. But Washington makes enemies for Japan every single day.
You cannot serve an empire that thrives on conflict and expect peace at home.
The ally you bow to is the same one drawing targets on your back.
No bases means real sovereignty. No weapons exports means no blood on Japanese hands.
The choice is simple. The government just refuses to make it.

It’s that time of the year again when Indian edtech youtubers will hype GSoC for its “stipend” and thousands of students will mindlessly raise useless PRs on random projects.
If you feel like falling for the FOMO, ask yourself if and why you really want to contribute to a particular project. What exactly do you want from open source contributions as a whole?
Don’t contribute to open source just to “crack” GSoC.
Focus on the org and projects that align with your interests.
Try to connect with an experienced mentor who can guide you about the industry, or even help you with career opportunities. but first provide some value to their project.
Remember that nobody owes you anything for free.
The GSoC “tag” and the stipend are very small benefits compared to the full potential of open source contributions and this program.
