It's not enough to remember. If we don't apply the lessons of our grandparents to today's emerging realities, we doom our children to live through the same horrors as they did. youtube.com/watch?v=PNpAOo…

Nobody is talking about what’s actually happening in the Persian Gulf right now. 3,200 commercial ships are trapped. Not military vessels. Civilian crews. Carrying oil, grain, electronics, medicine. Crews are running out of drinking water. One ship contacted the local port authority and begged for permission to dock just to resupply They were denied. For context — the Suez Canal crisis in 2021 trapped 400 ships and disrupted global supply chains for months. This is eight times that. The cameras are pointed at missile interceptions and oil price charts. Nobody is showing you the civilian sailor who can’t get drinking water in a war zone he never signed up for. If these ships are abandoned the environmental catastrophe alone — thousands of tons of fuel and chemicals sitting unmanned — would be generational. This is not a shipping disruption. This is a humanitarian crisis. And it started three weeks ago on a feeling. Never stop connecting the dots.

The reckless campaign against Iran will weaken America’s president. That will make him angry. Be warned: he makes a very bad loser econ.st/4lA7lEQ

This is unhinged. The President of the United States went on a late-night rant, making clear he believes the Supreme Court justices he appointed owe him their loyalty and should always rule in his favor. The President of the United States is openly attacking the independence of the judiciary, the very institution that stands between every American and unchecked executive power. Courts don’t work for the President. They work for the Constitution. And a president attacking the judiciary for doing its job is telling you he believes he is above the law.

The @realDonaldTrump admin can walk away from the mess they created in the “straights” of Hormuz - that doesn’t weaken but strengthen Iran’s bargaining position, which plays into Russia’s objectives. And China benefits by default.

STUBB: Russia is now giving Shahed drones back to Iran, which they can use to strike American bases. And Russia is providing Iran with intelligence on the locations of American bases. Basically, Russia is giving the executive order to kill American soldiers. I'd be very worried.

Ossoff: Was it the assessment of the intelligence community that there was an imminent nuclear threat posed by the Iranian regime? Gabbard: The only person who can determine what is and is not an imminent threat is the president. It is not the intelligence community's responsibility to determine what is and is not an imminent threat. Ossoff: It is precisely your responsibility. This is the worldwide threats hearing where, as you noted in your opening testimony quote, you represent the ic's assessment of threats.

i’ve yet to hear a workable near term (next 4-6 weeks) plan for how to open the strait that doesn’t involve us boots on the ground.

@EricLDaugh Love the enthusiasm. For those in the bubble, the reality is that allies, following their own intelligence analysis, see the sinkhole Trump has opened up and want nothing to do with it. Trump is good with the WWF type spin; other leaders live in this world we call reality.

🚨 BREAKING: After pressure from President Trump, NATO SecGen Mark Rutte says allies are RUSHING to find a way to secure the Strait of Hormuz "I have been in contact with many allies...Strait has to open!" "Allies are discussing how to do that. What is the best way to do it, they are working to find a way forward." Rutte KNOWS Trump means business, and Trump just threatened to pull away from the Strait entirely and let it fall on our "allies" to secure it LESS TALK, MORE ACTION! Our allies must pull their weight!

@ianbremmer I’d be curious to hear your take on whether Israel is intentionally trying to take out potential Iranian Delcy Rodriguez’s in an attempt to close offramp doors for the US.

the united states was unhappy with israel’s strikes on tehran oil infrastructure in first days of the war. israel attacks on south pars gas field today were apparently coordinated in advance with the united states. meaningful escalation in war, expected impact on iran economy. how much iran can damage of gcc energy infrastructure in return, we shall see.
