A woman gets into an argument at the river and throws an 11-year-old boy’s brand-new $300 skateboard — his birthday gift from just three days earlier — into the water. The boy wasn’t even involved in the fight. In the video, the kid then throws the woman’s water bottle into the river. She starts chasing and trying to hit the other kids while screaming at them. The boy’s mom, Stacia, initially didn’t want to press charges, but after seeing the full video she identified the woman as 35-year-old Teresa Romansky. Romansky was charged with disturbing the peace and wrongs to minors. She pleaded guilty and was sentenced to a year of unsupervised probation, 48 hours of community service, a two-day conflict management course, and $321 in fines and fees. The community stepped up in a big way — donations poured in and the boy received multiple new boards and gear. These kinds of stories hit hard because an innocent kid paid the price for an adult’s rage.
