@Orthodoxe @Rockburrito399 They do consider themselves Turkic; I have Chuvash friends. They are simply another branch of the Turkic family, which is Lir-Turkic, unlike the other Turks. Their language developed independently over 1500 years, but they still identify as Turkic people, mainly as Volga Bulgar.

These are the Gagauz, Turks from Moldavia and the only one non-Muslim Turkic population ; entirely Orthodox. They are descendants of Turkish settlers who established themselves on Danube delta and who were mostly expelled by Russia in the 18th c.
