One of the most interesting pieces of infrastructure being built around Aptos right now is Shelby Over the past few years, the crypto space has made huge progress on blockchains: consensus, security, scalability. Aptos was created with the goal of building an execution layer capable of supporting increasingly complex applications But if we really want fully on-chain applications, there is another infrastructure challenge that often gets overlooked: data management Where does application data live? How is it served fast enough for real users? And how do you do all of this without relying on Web2 cloud infrastructure? Most decentralized storage solutions today are designed mainly for archiving data. They work well for storing files but they are not built for applications that need to access data constantly and in real time This is exactly the problem @shelbyserves is trying to address The idea is to build infrastructure for hot data, meaning data that needs to be read and distributed continuously by applications like social platforms, gaming, streaming or AI-based systems Instead of focusing only on storage, the network is designed to incentivize nodes to serve data quickly, almost like a decentralized CDN for Web3 If we think of blockchains as the execution layer of applications, then infrastructure like Shelby could become the data layer that allows these applications to actually operate at scale Shelby is still in its early stages but it will be interesting to see how this evolves and especially exciting to see what builders will create on top of it.
