Question came up in today's PR meeting. Impressions vs. Reach. What do y'all use for your reporting? #PRchat

Question for PR pros: If you send a journalist a product sample for consideration for coverage, do you want honest feedback if they don't like it?

WHY? WHY do PR people continue to do this? Once again - embargoes should be used sparingly, when the situation warrants. Slapping the word "embargo" on your news is meaningless-*unless* the journalist has agreed to honor it (& even then-it's about trusting the journalist) #PR101

Lord give me the strength not to tweet out the $450M funding round a startup's PR firm just blasted out, unasked, "under embargo" to August 14

PR professionals do not have editorial control over earned media stories. So, no I will not call the editor to change the headline.

Working in public relations, one of the things I _always_ do whenever I'm putting together a presentation for a speaking gig is to search for the word "pubic" before finalizing my slides ๐Ÿ™ƒ #PRLife

@PRcarly Congrats! It's all about researching who it makes sense to pitch the story to. Right outlet x writer.

I got a client coverage in TechCrunch on my very first week as a PR pro. This is embarrassing to say now, but I didnโ€™t even know it was considered top-tier at the time. Iโ€™d just moved back home after leaving a role as a production assistant for Dr. Phil, and my mom asked me to help out in her PR firm. The client was launching a home security camera. I put in the research, and saw that TechCrunch covered similar products. So I reached out to a reporter who seemed like the best fit. Despite being only 24, VP-level team members (it was one of the bigger PR firms) started coming to me for guidance on pitches. Completely by accident, Iโ€™d stumbled into the perfect job for my skill set. I had: โœ… Taken creative writing classes, which honed my written communication. โœ… Majored in psychology, which helped me understand what makes people tick. โœ… Run a nature conservation blog where I came up with eye-catching headlines. And since then, Iโ€™ve been using that skillset to help tech companies scale, get acquired, and go public. Iโ€™d love to know: How did you get into PR?

This is that time of year when I see "Cannes" in the subject line, I just hit delete. Gossip. Backslapping. Fingerpointing. Grandstanding. Very little in the way of utility. Am I off the deep end here? Does anyone in B2B care about Cannes?

Client asking to start "pitching" when there are no PR assets and key messages put together is not a good strategy

Last year someone stole $6000 worth of fuses from our electrical panel the day before Motherโ€™s Day leaving us without power for a day stressing. This year a mariachi group we had booked for Motherโ€™s Day just canceled on us. Now Iโ€™m scrambling trying to book a replacement ๐Ÿ˜‘

@marioxcarrasco It really does, speaking the corporate lingo and understanding the process for approvals is something that would have taken a long time to understand if not for being in the trenches
