i like all you guys who appreciate chainsaw man part two's ending (better than waffling about "character arcs" not being "complete", classic geek tvtropes shit) but i see a lot of "this series is actually a meta story" type readings. actually the story is about a guy named denji

I love that the moment we initially viewed as Denji's climactic self-actualization gets recontextualized as the nail in the coffin for him--intrinsically tying his identity to Chainsaw Man. His actual moment of self-actualization is only made aware to us at the end.

Honestly speaking, the worst thing about part 2 is the assassination of denji's character for me. He used to be one of my favourite but now i genuinely get pissed at what he's become, i can't even enjoy his part 1 self in a vacuum with the context of p2 that's how bad it is.
