If you check the panel where Yuta is defeated you will see Sukuna's arm is still shaded in, indicating JL. He only becomes unshaded after that

@0Majula @TmrwNevrComes yeah, but he was only able to fire off a WCS because Yuta and Yuji (in particular) stopped restraining him, so presumably if they just continue wailing him and not letting him chant and do the hand signs, they could've fried him long enough with jacobs ladder

They know that killing Sukuna won't kill him (Yuji revival) and reference that several times.
