Just over 10 years ago I was told my hip arthritis (due to cam type FAI) was so bad I should stop running. Last week I ran my 1st real marathon in 2:34 with no hip joint pain. Don’t believe everything you are told….

Again, the best exercise is the one that gets done I don't care if you run, lift weights, play tennis, or just more routinely take the stairs at work. Even a small amount of structured and leisure time physical activity can make a difference

If you know anyone who is going to turn 65 soon remind them to enroll in regular Medicare & not a Medicare advantage plan. A family member recently needed acute rehab & the social workers delight at not needing prior auth bc they had straight Medicare was an excellent reminder.

@rcpointdujour Then the basics: start slow, set reasonable mileage, time, and reasonable weekly goals. Don't be afraid or too stubborn to walk at times. Durations as limited as 10 minutes or less even can be helpful Listen to some good music or podcasts 👌

@rcpointdujour Free community runs near you are a great way be social, enjoy it more than focusing on the slog of just getting it done. Check out sites like meetup Flat nature trails for those who like outdoors. Etc Gives you something to focus on other than the exercise itself

I did 2 runs this weekend. 4 miles Saturday and 3 miles today I went slower for me, I enjoyed the scenery, I enjoyed getting outdoors, I enjoyed getting a workout I didn't care about pace, what zone I'm in, who passed me, etc It doesn't need to be complicated!
