@SamaHoole Activist always seem to be individuals who have never personally grown anything. If you have farmed, then you know you can’t grow on a significant slope. You can’t grow, if the growing season is too short. You can’t grow, if the soil depth is shallow.

@SamaHoole No activist makes such claims. You're putting up a bullshit conversation. Substantial portions of arable land are used Indeed for crops that go into animal feed. And for many - not all - of those there are alternative, some would say better, uses.

Activist: "A plant-based food system would use seventy-five percent less land." Farmer: "Land suitable for arable crops, yes." Activist: "All land." Farmer: "Three-quarters of the world's agricultural land is too steep, too wet, too cold, or too arid for crops." Activist: "Technology..." Farmer: "Cannot move a mountain. Cannot lower annual rainfall. Cannot extend the frost-free season." Activist: "The study is peer-reviewed." Farmer: "The study modelled land as if it were interchangeable. It isn't." Activist: "You're disputing the findings." Farmer: "I'm standing on a Cumbrian fell in October. The fell is disputing the findings." Activist: "That's anecdotal." Farmer: "So is every peer-reviewed study that's never left a spreadsheet."

@SamaHoole Not all land is suitable for crops, true. But land use isn’t fixed either. So maybe it’s how we use different types of land better, not treating it like it can’t change.

@_ConnieShaw @LionsHeadRock Matthew Wright is the racist. He has been spreading antisemitism for years now. And he’s so thick. He doesn’t even realise he’s doing it.

Serica Energy says an estimated five trillion cubic feet of gas lies under the seabed west of Shetland, where there is already infrastructure for piping it back to the mainland. Serica’s CEO said: “It’s equivalent to supplying every household in the UK for five years. And yet, some people continue to say that the amount of gas we can produce in the UK is not significant.” The claim will pile fresh pressure on Ed Miliband to allow drilling in the North Sea. #CostOfNetZero

If you wonder how Ed Miliband can claim heavily subsidised renewables are 'cheaper than gas', look no further than the latest report from Oxford University, which simply ignores anything inconvenient, says Dr Tilak Doshi in the Climate Skeptic. climateskeptic.org/p/the-biased-o…

My own view is it doesn’t make much sense for African countries to claim reparations for the slave trade when they themselves kidnapped and sold Africans into slavery. What are they claiming for? Exceeding the quota?🤷🏿‍♀️ It all just feels like bait apple.news/AueUusiRJQQqUA…

@Ed_Miliband 5,000 jobs. Sounds big. Define it, define it, define it. How many permanent UK jobs vs short-term construction, what median salary, what contract length, what % local hires? NUMBERS not slogans.

Are the 5000 jobs in China where they make the wind turbines? That are then moved across the world using fossil fuels to drive the engines of the ships. Then they kill millions if birds. Have to be buried in landfill amd only work when its windy? What about people using gas? Is this part of the deal you did with China that you wont talk about? How many are we obliged to buy ? For how much? For how long? In exchange for?

@Ed_Miliband 6.5 million homes.. no chance in hell. You've taken the maximum estimate of houses that level of power could supply and treating it as certainty. With it being intermittent we would still require backup of the same amount!

@DrSteveTaylor @Vonni2 What happens to all this money? Can Streeting deposit it into his own bank account? Does it go to the Labour Party? Does it get ploughed back into the NHS budget? Or how does it work?

So, as a doctor I can’t accept a plastic pen from a pharmaceutical company because it might influence my prescribing decisions, but MPs can accept thousands in cash from those who want to privatise the NHS and it won’t affect their decision-making??? CTFO thenational.scot/news/25967768.…

Oxford Smith School: "if all UK households switched to renewable energy, bills could be reduced by £105-£441 per household per year on average" But read on: "We do not explicitly include the costs of intermittency from the switch to renewables" Ie, those numbers are misleading
