Manuscript Rejected

Didn’t get the TT job. Sometimes I absolutely hate academia.

Reviewing is a funny game. As authors we've all received a snarky review at some point and know how harsh it feels. So why would any author give reviews like this? Is it a case of the bullied becoming the bullies? Predator-prey reversal? @PhDVoice @PhD_fail

I will leave academia as soon as I find a non-academic job. #AcademicChatter

Unpopular opinion: If you’re a white person who “loved graduate school” then you didn’t make enough good trouble with/for your marginalized colleagues. And if your response to that is that there was no trouble to be made, you just weren’t trusted enough to know about it.

Personally, anytime my paper is rejected in a particular journal I move to the next.

@PhDVoice @PostdocVoice My paper was rejected by a journal without giving reasons. I submitted it to another journal of the same ranking as the first one and it was published after minor revisions.

@PhDVoice @effodu @PostdocVoice The 1st time my paper was rejected, I cried. I did few editing and submitted to another journal which was accepted. Since then I don’t even stress it. We moveee✌️✌️

I got one paper accepted and one paper rejected today (different journals). Already heard back from all coauthors. Including the editors, that’s 7 academics that were working on a Sunday.

Resubmitted a brutally reviewed and rejected paper coauthored with @annekearymonas1 & Prof. Kostogriz to a new journal after making some changes. What doesn't kill you makes you stronger. #Academia

Don’t take journal rejections personally. A rejection doesn’t guarantee that your paper is bad. There are even Nobel prize winning papers that were rejected.💪 #PhDVoice @PostdocVoice

The academic job market

@NeNe_LaShaun Unfortunately, manuscript rejection happens after R&R… a lot… I recently had one paper rejected after revision and another paper I coauthored was rejected after R&R as well and I have heard a couple cases of rejections after R&R…luckily there are many journals so to the next!

A few months ago, I submitted a paper to a journal & after the first round of R, the paper was rejected. Knowing the quality of the work we had done, I resubmitted it to an older & higher journal (IF wise) & it was accepted with minor revision. St Rejection could be a blessing

I don't want to apply for another postdoc/fellowship/consultancy. I'm exhausted. #AcademicTwitter
