@BBCNewsnight Gisèle Pelicot's interview was both moving and powerful. I hope it will lead to a better understanding of women by men and mark the start of a new beginning in relations between us.

"Gisèle Pelicot has demonstrated to the whole world that it is not for the victims of sexual predation to feel ashamed." Musician Annie Lennox talks about the impact of Gisèle Pelicot, saying she has "changed the dial for all women." #Newsnight

@Alacritic_Super @yvessirae Because only men truly understand men, and only women truly understand women, each needs to call out their own. At the same time, we should focus on promoting the best of male and female characteristics for the benefit of all, particularly our children.

Yes, men are raped too. Yes, men are molested too. And yes, statistically many perpetrators are male. But the deeper issue is not a gender debate. It is how society responds. When women speak, society often believes them slowly. When men speak, society often laughs, doubts, or minimizes. “What kind of man lets that happen?” “Why didn’t you fight back?” “Be grateful.”

@RealBrittHughes You are right to suggest that the gender issues of the perpetrator are not relevant to his/her crime.

I could give crap all about the “gender identity” of a violent psychopath who shot up a school full of children, or what pronouns he wanted to use. Gender dysphoria is a mental illness, and it’s beyond time we started treating it as such.

I attempt to speak on behalf of the many decent men on the planet who are appalled by the Epstein scandal. We abhor the whole money and power game that some people play. We respect, admire and love women for what they are. We want to protect our daughters, sisters and girlfriends from evil. Prevention is better than cure. Let's work together on educating our children to make sure nothing like this ever happens again.

Today I felt the echo of how it must have felt, over two decades, for the many, many victims of Epstein and his cronies. To be lied to, gaslit, explained away, criticised, complained about. I don’t think politicians have grasped that. The girls were hurt. A conviction was secured. But still that isn’t enough. My sympathies are only with them.

As an actor/coach who has played a UK Prime Minister, a French President, and a US Secretary of State for Defense, I offer my insight into the mind of President Donald Trump. He is a man driven by the emotion to save lives, whose rational side is looking for any way to achieve this. He is conflicted between using his enormous power and wanting to please his voters. He oscillates between respecting and belittling others, including world leaders because he is bipolar in defensive narcissism, i.e. he has both characteristics of high and low self-esteem. He needs good people around him and will listen to them. The evidence for that is his changes of mind. He doesn't need money but uses it as a tool to get what he wants. He talks about God, so he may consider inviting religious leaders onto his Board of Peace. My suggestion is that he should appoint Kamala Harris as his Vice-President.

What we saw today in Davos was an old man decompensating on the world stage because nobody close to him who's in a position to do something cares about him enough to bother.

@jordanbpeterson I believe that God is universal consciousness. Why does God have to be male? Women have equal responsibilities to make our planet a better place, with different but complementary skillsets to men. God should be bi-gender to include good female psychological characteristics. That will help to achieve world peace?

@MentalUnleash Yes, but sometimes emotions get the better of people, and they act in a way that they later regret. We are all human.

As humans, we are fundamentally the same as we were thousands of years ago. Gender differences are the obvious evidence. Given our biology, men are more proactive, women more reactive. So, a woman asking a man on a date is unnatural. When it happened to me, it caused me major problems.

@Baddiel Re: "A bloke's best friend", Sunday Times 11 January 2026. You referred to a sonnet by your late father about his cat. Here's one about my dog: Alert with kindly eyes he looks at me, In expectation, food and fun to get. Dependent, tied yet wanting to be free, Our bond is such that both those needs are met. To me, he gives unquestioning loyalty, Without complaint, a friend beyond compare. My moods, in all their strength and frailty, He takes them on, it seems without a care. Yet he's a dog, a hound for all his charm, Which I forget when he gives me his trust, And looks to me to save him from all harm. So in his place, I keep him as I must. In love, support we both connect as friends. A partnership until we meet our ends.

If there was a virgin birth, And Jesus really came to earth, Then he'll be back as prophesied, Even though he must have died. But where and how will he arrive, If he is supposed to be alive? What will we hear or even see, On social media and TV? There'll be global interest in the news, With different religious views. But will we know it's true or fake, As we enjoy our Christmas cake? He could appear by day or night, On mobile screens all shining bright Whatever time zone we are in, Softly quiet or with shattering din. Maybe he'll come from outer space, But he'll have to find a landing place. The Middle East, perhaps Qatar A football stadium, seen from afar. Then what, a car, a bus, a plane? A superyacht, an express train? Where will He go, and what to do? Meeting people, it could be you...
