@dlwiest @Erik_Haile @OldInternetFeel @MattBytesRetro FLAC didn't get released until 2001. I don't remember having many options back then when ripping a disc, it was usually just wav or mp3 for me. I know Monkey's Audio (.ape) came out in 2000, but I never knew anyone that used it. (It was pretty hardware intensive too)

@Erik_Haile @OldInternetFeel @MattBytesRetro Yeah, WAV was a reach because nobody ripped in WAV unless they were doing production work. People actually listened to FLAC in 2000, and it was big enough to fill 75gb pretty easily
