Beautiful time of the year to visit the Logan River Watershed and do some field work with the LRO team. The karst system is interesting and yet complex.

@JeremyLMaurer Thanks. I will check those out. I agree it’s good to get hands dirty especially when learning how to code. I was hoping to find some workshops like Software Carpentry so the students can interact with instructors, but our university does not have one.

@PinShuai I can't think of any that do all three, but many do each one. I'd start on edx or udemy or codeacademy, look at what they have, and pick a few free short courses. Then, the main way to actually learn is to try out a project! Lots of open source code needs developers
