Located roughly 10 kilometers north of Tyre, the bridge serves as a primary junction on the coastal highway linking Beirut with Tyre and Lebanon’s southern border regions. The attacks began on the first day of the war, July 12, and continued with further strikes, including the bombing of a Lebanese Army position near the bridge on August 1, 2006, which resulted in the martyrdom of one soldier and injuries to three others.
