@mothsfriend @JeffMcCarthyBC I don’t think it was easy trying to find his game jumping from 15aa to u18 prep, I would say it looked like his game was coming along more as the season went along. Curious to see if he can crack the roster next year or will need that extra developmental season.

Just doing our final numbers for our player pool for Western Canada. Across all leagues for this age group, our staff has written reports on about 750 different players throughout the year for 2011s.

@JeffMcCarthyBC @mothsfriend One that stands out to me was Linden Anderson last year, had a great last day at the BC cup and swift current swings on him in the 2nd round. Cool story for that being the only major tournament he played in last year.

@DaveDawson7 My take about this draft is the provincial cups will determine a ton of how this draft shakes up. All the kids from different leagues under one roof. From the scouts and agents I’ve spoken to that has been the clear message. Players can jump rounds with a good cup.

A thread about elite U15 hockey in Alberta now that the season schedule has concluded. There has been A LOT of conversation in my @ about club vs academy, the caliber of play is overloaded etc which may partially be true. But let's have a quick look at the Champions.

@hockeyrexview @eliteprospects @Seth_Scouting @TysonSoobotin Agreed. It seems it’s always the same kids on these reports regardless of how the play actually is. Thought there were a lotta kids that made impacts during the tournament that aren’t being showcased here. I guess it’s just easy to rinse and repeat lol

@eliteprospects @Seth_Scouting @TysonSoobotin I believe you missed the mark on the report. The top4 teams ranked all year long went out early. The top players on those 4 teams and your list did not show well. So many other players made impacts. Chatting with scouts, consensus is the top players were a no show unfortunately.

@mothsfriend No no, huge fan of him but just didn’t think had a great showing this weekend in particular compared to what I have seen from him before. This list is just 35 kids who came to play this weekend. Nothing to do with a draft rankings list.

Also continue to enjoy Teagan Bouchards game the more and more I watch him. Follows through every check, feet always moving/ and shows great leadership qualities. Will be in the WHL or Junior A of some sort next year.

A player who caught my eye at the u18 championship was Carson Smith from RHAK A 6th rounder from 2024 signed to Moosejaw who plays with a meanness to him and edge that caught my eye immediately. Huge difference maker in the finals against NAX

@mothsfriend Could see 3/4 or 4/4 of them for sure, weaker draft for defensemen so the top ones I imagine will be prioritized off the board quickly.
