Did you know that judges can increase the length of prison sentences based on "acquitted conduct" - things people are charged w/ but not convicted of?
That must change. If Congress doesn't act, we hope the Supreme Court will. Thanks to AFP for having us join their amicus brief.

I hate when cowards use criminal record as a surrogate for classism & racism. @RepSeanMaloney deserves to be commended, knowing that most formerly incarcerated people who violate parole & probation are unemployed at the time of arrest. Great job, Rep. Maloney. @nypost is a rag.

Formerly incarcerated ppl are more afraid of society than society is of them. The stigma of incarceration can be brutal and becomes a life sentence of its own once you’re “free”.

Does this really surprise anyone? It took BOP forever to even recognize earned time credits. Of course the calculation is wrong. Congress will hold a hearing. BOP will claim lack of staff and funding just like they always do and that will be the end of it. Feeling cynical today

She told the judge and attorneys about my ordeal and my current work.
My daughter was excused from jury duty.

I'm one of them!🤚The chances of finding a decent job with a federal record are very limited. Add that for the three years of supervision, the judge prohibited me from working in the only thing I know how to do, then chances are even much less. Here, second chance is a utopia!😠
