The Pandemic Fund is well positioned to support these efforts. Its catalytic, collaborative model is fit for today’s #healthfinancing landscape. Nearly US$7 billion is now in the Fund’s global portfolio, including US$885 million in grants that have mobilized more than US$6 billion in co-financing and co-investment. At today’s “Tackling Future Threats in an Era of Multipolarity” event hosted by @PandemicAction, @TheIndPanel, @TheElders, @AfricaEuropeFdn and RANA, @PriyaBasu2017, Executive Head of @Pandemic_Fund, joined global leaders to explore how to close gaps in pandemic prevention, preparedness, and response (PPR) amid overlapping crises. Key takeaways: ➡️ Preparedness is an investment, not an expense. ➡️ Closing financing gaps requires strong country ownership, more domestic & international investment, and deeper public–private partnerships. ➡️ Collaborative, catalytic approaches matter. ➡️ Pandemic risk is part of a broader global agenda, intertwined with climate, security, and other challenges. ➡️ Preparedness needs more than public-sector action.

Across Africa, the Pandemic Fund is: ✔️Strengthening core systems—#surveillance, #laboratories, #healthworkforces, and cross-border coordination in 28 countries with almost US$2 Billion (US$430 million in grants unlocking US$1.5 billion in co-financing and domestic investment). ✔️Acting with speed and agility, including the fast-tracked US$129 million to 10 African countries to help contain #mpox and reinforce national health systems. ✔️Anchoring every project in national health action plans led by country themselves to build sustainable, long-term capacity.

@Pandemic_Fund’s Executive Head @PriyaBasu2017 spoke at the @AfricaCDC Committee of Heads of State and Government Meeting, joining African Heads of State, Africa CDC, and @AfricanUnion leadership for a pivotal conversation on #pandemicpreparedness and financing in Africa. The world has entered a new era of #healthfinancing—marked by domestic resource mobilization, innovative partnerships, and catalytic investment.
