Charging My Tesla in Colombia Explained - tricky! 1. Two dominate players, Terpel and EPM. For a foreigner, it’s IMPOSSIBLE to charge because you have to a Cedula (SSN), local phone number and local debit/credit card. A complete stranger let me setup an account, borrowing his information, even allowing me to use his debit card while I pay him back via PayPal - not ideal. Customer service said they will help, but I haven’t heard back in 72 hours. EPM is even worse because you need to have a residential account to access their charging network. - their APP force closes all the time, so I have charger anxiety! A few times it has taken 4 + time to initiate a fast charge. 2. These chargers are 40kW each, GBT, Type 2 (7kw) and CC1. Two cars can simultaneously charge at 40kW. 3. There are plenty of dead zones, especially because I lost my J1772 adapter AND my charge port latch don’t properly fix. 4. Word on the street is Tesla is launching here in 2 weeks. Interesting to see how fast they are going to whip out the Suprchargers and will ALLOW North American Teslas to charge…TBD 5. I am figuring it out, slowly! This is all part of the experience!
