The entire purpose of the Contract with America was to blunt the impact of the 75 freshmen Republican Representatives elected in 1994 to oppose the Clinton regime. As Newt himself later explained, the first 100 days of that Congress was spent inuring those 'radical' freshmen in the way that Congress and Washington worked. Nothing listed on the Contract with America was passed into law. But it did what it was designed to do.

@FloppingAces Thune doesn't have 53 votes because there are at least 4 traitors in the wings (McConnell, Murkowski, Collins, and Tillis). He doesn't have 51 votes either. That's why the Dems worked so hard and counted so many votes after election day to stop them in WI, MI, NV, and AZ.

Democrats are currently living the nightmare: 47 exhausted, diaper-wearing senators rotating like hungover shift workers at 3 a.m., clutching that podium for dear life so one missed bathroom break doesn’t hand Trump’s voter ID bill a 53-vote win. In 2015, Disney called 250 IT workers into a meeting. They thought they were getting bonuses. Disney told them they were being replaced by workers flown in from India on H-1B visas, and if they didn't spend the next 90 days training those replacements, they'd lose their severance. Leo Perrero testified before Congress about it. Appeared on 60 Minutes. "Someone was flown in from another country to sit at my same desk and take over what I was doing. It was the most humiliating thing I've ever gone through in my life." Two workers sued Disney, HCL, and Cognizant for colluding to illegally displace American workers. Courts dismissed it. Disney Magic.

The Abrahamic Covenant is unconditional & everlasting & includes salvation of Gentiles thru the gospel (Gal. 3:8). If those promises of salvation are unconditional & eternally secure for Gentiles, then what makes us think the other promises for Israel are conditional & temporal?

My reaction to posts like this today is nothing like it would have been 25 years ago. Then I would have said, "well, we have come a long way". Now, I think about how effective communists are, what a mess we have today, and how correct the "racists" were in the 1950/60s.
