Yes. Cousins and Kubiak acknowledged Aidan’s talent and potential but the media and RaiderX fans are blind.
Been this way for past 3 years.
Random fans who do not have Sunday ticket, base thier opinions on highlights.
1/2 the media in vegas secretly want a mobile QB who can go off script. and will never endorse a pocket passer. The other 1/2 can’t recognize talent. National media has no clue.
Fans who have played ball or know ball see clearly how aidan has been blackballed.

The Aidan O'Connell hype has been running a bit rampant this offseason.
Kirk Cousins was the first to co-sign the job that the Raiders' QB has done.

@THEGOATtwo09 Stabler was an all decade player in the NFL and is a Hall of Famer for a reason.
He also called his own plays.
It’s not close.
English

Raiders debate time: Who's the better quarterback, Ken Stabler or Derek Carr? Carr owns many of the franchise passing records and carried some bad Raiders teams for nearly a decade.
But Stabler has what Carr doesn't—a league MVP, multiple playoff wins, and a Super Bowl championship. Carr may have the stats, but Stabler has the legacy. Which matters more to Raider Nation?
English

Guess what? Neither you nor I get to decode decide who’s better today.
Kubiak knows Cousins well and..
No one in the building knows what Aidan O’Connell is capable of better than Klint Kubiak — because Kubiak has been on the wrong end of it twice.
In 2023, Kubiak was the 49ers’ passing game coordinator when Aidan, in the very first NFL game he ever played, shredded San Francisco 34–7. He went 15-of-18 — missing on just three throws all day — with a touchdown and a 117.6 passer rating. That was Aidan’s introduction to the league, and it came against Kubiak’s defense-supporting offense.
A year later, in 2024, Kubiak was the Saints’ offensive coordinator when Aidan walked into the Superdome and dismantled his team 25–10. Two touchdowns, no contest. The Aidan-to-Brock Bowers connection that day rewrote the record books — breaking Mike Ditka’s 63-year-old rookie tight end record and Puka Nacua’s rookie reception record of 105, with Bowers finishing on 107 to set the Raiders’ all-time single-season mark, past Darren Waller.
So when Kubiak interrupts the local media when they discount and disrespect Aidan, he’s not guessing. He’s seen it up close — twice — from the sideline that lost. That’s why the rest of us may be underrating a quarterback his own head coach already knows can take over a game.
We will see, I trust Kubiak.

@RaiderJamesX @RapSheet @nflnetwork I think Aiden is better than folks think, but he's not better than Cousins. You'll get that when he plays this year.
English

From The Insiders on @NFLNetwork: #Raiders QB Kirk Cousins was open and honest about his mentorship of Fernando Mendoza. And that's just fine.
English

@J62265243 @Freedomforus85 @RapSheet @nflnetwork There are no guarantees. Let’s see if Mendoza is as ready to go as AOC was his rookie year when he went 5-5 and finished the season 3-0 versus the AFC West. Right now, he’s not close to being ready.
English

@Freedomforus85 @RaiderJamesX @RapSheet @nflnetwork Mendoza is the future, AOC is not... However, imo, I think he can beat out Cousins as the starter this season. Mendoza will sit, unless both QB's shit the bed. I doubt that will happen. The Raiders have the best QB group in the NFL. Any of those 3 could be starters. That's rare.
English

@Freedomforus85 @RapSheet @nflnetwork Wrong. If you’ve ever played sports in your life and you’re competitive person, you remember every single loss, especially if they were beat downs and that’s what Aidan O’Connell gave to Kubiaks teams.
English

@RaiderJamesX @RapSheet @nflnetwork Ok. You love the guy. Can this be the year? Not for him, we all really know that shit ain't happening. But for you! Can this be the yr where you say, if he's not our starter for the yr. If he doesn't "get the fair shake", you admit he's a backup. If you're right, I'll admit it
English

This is what elite QBs do.
They get three seconds to make a decision—a 320-pound defensive tackle closing fast, every instinct screaming move. But they plant their feet, stare down the barrel of it, and release a 60-yard strike: a touchdown bomb that turns pressure into six.
They don’t panic and scramble. They trust the pocket, trust the read, and deliver.
You’d rather see a broken play, a QB escape the pocket and play backyard ball and heave a 50/50 ball.
Kubiak does not want that.

English

@RaiderJamesX @RapSheet @nflnetwork Doesn't change a thing. You acting like he accepted the job cuz we had AOC. But he took it cuz we could get Mendoza. Then went and got cousins cuz he thought AOC wasn't good enough. So this is the year. It's now or never right?
English

@LKennedy72 and @YourboyQ254 are under estimating Aidan labeling him as a career backup in addition omitting the power of 1st impressions and how well Kubiak knows Aidan.

Aidan will win camp and preseason and will be QB1

@RaidersLead I head the pick was a PI. Can’t get flagged in practice.
English

Fernando Mendoza and AOC received most of the first team reps today, but neither stood out during their opportunities
- Mendoza struggled with accuracy and would have been sacked twice in a real game by Malcolm Koonce and JJ Pegues.
- AOC was inconsistent and was picked off by rookie safety Dalton Johnson on a deep ball to Phillip Dorsett.

English

@Spidermannjeny @RaidersLead wrong, repeating BS narratives.
Adian has a 12% pressure to sack rate.
Aidan was the 4th least sacked QB in the entire NFL 2024. Both stats amount to elite pocket presence
English

@RaidersLead AOC is capable, but is a statue and doesn't process things fast enough sometimes.
English

@PalomaFOX5News @Raiders AOC will be QB1 for game1.
He already won OTAs. He will win minicamp, camp and preseason as he has the last two years without recognition.
Kubiak doesn’t play. He will play the best and most ready QB and that will be Aidan.
English

Kirk Cousins to Ashton Jeanty all day 🔥
Fernando Mendoza tells the media the quarterbacks have been working together this offseason.
@Raiders minicamp day two.
English

@JustBlogBaby @levidombro AOC will win many rings as a franchise QB once he has the proper support system. Let’s see what Kube does
English

Aidan O'Connell recently said, obviously, that he wants to be a long-time starter.
For how well he's been playing, keeping him as a long-term backup seemed to be an ideal plan.
But based on those comments, it may not be attainable.

@HondoCarpenter Dude got zero support. 3 quarters was a joke, He has been the best QB on the roster since he has been with the Raiders.
We finally have a coach with backbone calling it as it really is. Aidan has a shot at redemption.

@ryanmcfadden_ Cousins is firmly ahead of the other 2. To be expected. I don’t expect that to change in Training Camp either based on everything I’ve read up to this point.
English

The viewing period of #Raiders minicamp practice just wrapped up. Mendoza and O'Connell received the majority of the reps during the team period, while Cousins observed.
A few notes:
- Mendoza and AOC went up against some of the projected first-team defensive players.
- Both QBs were fairly inconsistent. Mendoza's accuracy wasn't on point compared to yesterday. He also would've been sacked twice by Malcolm Koonce and JJ Pegues.
- AOC was picked off by rookie safety Dalton Johnson on a deep ball to Phillip Dorsett. Johnson might've gotten away w/ def. holding.
- JPJ was participating in 11 on 11 after being absent from this part of practice yesterday.
