Just to clear this up…Caitlin Foord wasn’t at the Matildas fan event due to early flights back for club duties, as confirmed by the team.
But also…
taking responsibility after a final loss is heavy.
Foord has given so much to this team, one loss doesn’t change that.

My main gripe is the event starting late and no water being provided but grateful to all the players who attended even though international break is over

Without the fans…there would be no ticket sales, no television coverage, no sponsorship nor increased salaries.
The day after losing 1-0 to Japan in a gallant, hard fought final of the AFC Women’s Asian Cup, the fans stood in the hot sun at Tumbalong Park waiting for an hour to cheer on their heroes and to let them know they support them no matter what.
It’s a shame the players couldn’t share some of the same enthusiasm.
It is completely understandable that losing sucks, but today was the day to say thanks to the fans.
What’s the old saying, ‘Be humble in victory, gracious in defeat’? That’s the mark of true professionals.
