In Signs, the aliens appear for only about 90 seconds in total, but that was enough for some audience members to leave the theater with their children. M. Night Shyamalan kept them mostly off screen. Showing less of monster made it more terrifying

This scene in Jojo Rabbit made everyone gasp. Taika Waititi said he didn’t want to show Rosie’s hanging because he “doesn’t like the idea of seeing people hang” and seeing dead loved one is something the audience didn’t “have permission” to see.
