Aileen Wuornos describing her experience in prostitution to the jury during her trial: I said I would not (have sex with him). He said, yes, you are, bitch. You're going to do everything I tell you. If you don't I'm going to kill you and (have sex with you) after you're dead, just like the other sluts. It doesn't matter, your body will still be warm. He tied my wrists to the steering wheel, and screwed me in the ass. Afterwards, he got a Visine bottle filled with rubbing alcohol out of the trunk. He said the Visine bottle was one of my surprises. He emptied it in my rectum. It really hurt bad because he tore me up a lot. He got dressed, got a radio, sat on the hood for what seemed like an hour. I was really pissed. I was yelling at him, and struggling to get my hands free. Eventually he untied me, put a stereo wire around my neck and tried to rape me again. Then I thought, well, this dirty bastard deserves to die because of what he was tryin' to do to me. We struggled. I reached for my gun. I shot him. @rosehunterpoet @heinzsight2020 @spinifexpress Maybe it's because we hear what want to hear. We have to cope being in that hell and to admit the abuse , the rape etc is just too much for us to handle that reality.

@XXXLifeNoMore This was back in the 90s. Aileen was a sex trafficking victim and if this happened today I believe she would of never received the death penalty.

@RealJillMartin 😡 Did they not examine and see that she was raped and that her actions were justifiable? Makes me sick how they handle matters like this this isnt the 1st time.

@mesmorisedmocha Agreed! The most helpful part of my healing is finding a community. I have been lucky enough to meet other women through a trafficking organization. If there's an organization near you call them and see if they hold groups or get togethers.

It was one of the first books I read from the radfem perspective (when I was in the industry I regarded it as my "choice" & anything negative was my fault). Reading this for the 1st time was when the penny started to drop so it (also) has a special place in my heart.
