🇨🇦 The Country Where .com Isn’t Popular – Canada In most countries, .com is more popular than local domain extensions. But not in Canada — where companies often avoid using .com for their websites. 🤔 Why? Because the U.S. and Canada share an economic zone, and many U.S. companies sell to Canadian customers through .com sites. 📦 The problem? Canadian users often don’t realize the site is U.S.-based until it’s too late. Common issues when buying from a U.S. .com site: 1️⃣ Import duties 2️⃣ Expensive shipping 3️⃣ Slow delivery times 4️⃣ High return costs 💸 As a result, Canadians tend to: 🔍 Search with “Canada” or a city name ✅ Click only .ca domains ⚠️ Double-check the address if it's .com Over time, trust has shifted entirely to .ca domains, and even local companies prefer .ca over .com to avoid losing customers. 💡 If you're investing in domains for the Canadian market, avoid .com. Outbound sales efforts with .com simply don’t work here. 📉 Canada is one of the rare countries where .com loses.

Every startup is trying to build trust. A strong domain doesn’t replace that work. It shortens the distance to earn it.

I'll try to keep this short.... The life-saving cardiac pacemaker (1950), the revolutionary discovery of insulin for diabetes treatment (1922), the iconic Canadarm that revolutionized space missions (1981), AM radio by Reginald Fessenden (1906), the game-changing 56k modem (1996), the telephone by Alexander Graham Bell in Brantford, the world's first internet search engine Archie (1988), the ubiquitous Java programming language, essential walkie-talkies (1942), groundbreaking IMAX technology (1968), basketball invented by James Naismith (1891), instant replay technology (1955), the humble garbage bag (1950), the practical paint roller, the empowering electric wheelchair (1953), peanut butter (1884), the revolutionary electron microscope (1939), and even standard time (1878)

First .ROCKS domain spotted in the wild (in Quebec City), and a slick three-letter one at that! Although at first glance I thought this business was a nightclub, SPK turns out to be a startup-related ecosystem of various ventures. #domains #domainnames
