Yesterday, ICE murdered an American citizen. The only way to prevent future horrors is to prosecute and ensure full accountability up the entire chain of command.

I recently visited HealthCare Associates Credit Union in Lisle to discuss the issues impacting credit unions and the communities they serve. Thank you to the HACU team for hosting me and other credit union leaders at your new office in Lisle. I appreciated the thoughtful conversation about strengthening consumer protections, preventing fraud, expanding access to housing resources, and ensuring families have the financial tools they need to succeed.

Illinois is the birthplace of the Special Olympics, and Special Olympics Illinois helps make our state more inclusive for everyone. Earlier this week, I attended the Special Olympics Illinois Tennis Skills Competition at Victor J. Andrew High School in Tinley Park. I enjoyed cheering on all of the incredible athletes as they showcased their hard work and talent!

ICE has repeatedly lied about their encounters only to be disproven by bystander videos. They have murdered people and then destroyed evidence before a proper investigation can commence. It appears that they have now murdered Lorenzo Salgado Araujo. Earlier this week, I visited downtown Lombard with Village President Anthony Puccio and the Lombard Chamber of Commerce to meet with local business owners, including the teams at Soapy Roads and Babcock's Grove House. I enjoyed checking out both businesses and hearing their ideas to keep Lombard thriving.

Parks bring communities together, create opportunities for recreation, and improve quality of life. It was great to visit the Lombard Park District's Madison Meadow Athletic Center to learn more about the programs and initiatives that serve families across our community. Thank you to the Park District staff for the tour and for sharing how you're investing in spaces that keep Lombard residents active, connected, and engaged.

I had the opportunity to visit The Center in Palos Park to learn more about the incredible work they're doing to help individuals on their recovery journey. From residential aftercare through the Pathway to Sobriety Program to support groups and retreats, The Center has spent decades providing hope, healing, and fellowship to people from all walks of life. I'm grateful for the dedicated staff and volunteers who make this life-changing work possible and for their commitment to strengthening our communities.

The SAVE Act is a voter disenfranchisement bill. House Republicans continue to prioritize legislation that would make it harder for millions of Americans to vote instead of addressing issues families actually care about, like lowering cost, protecting healthcare, and strengthening the economy.

Today, the Supreme Court blocked President Trump from firing Federal Reserve Governor Lisa Cook, but harmfully expanded his authority to remove officials at other independent federal agencies. I had the pleasure of welcoming this year's Congressional Art Competition winner, Natalia Stanibula, to Washington. Her piece, Melting Pot, earned first place and will be displayed in the Capitol.
