Well except maybe for GTA 6, but I'm not really a GTA fan. Nor do I think Sony is going to win that many people over doing stuff like this once said game comes out.

The only reason I would have persuaded someone to buy a PS5 before was just for playing Bloodborne, even though it's a PS4 game it definitely plays smoothist on there.
But with PS4 emulation being were it is, it's not really worth getting the PS5 anymore at this point.w

PlayStation support has confirmed that a new digital rights management policy for the console is intentional, not a glitch. Starting with any digital games purchased after the March 2026 system update, your PS5 will require an internet connection at least once every 30 days to validate the license. If the console stays offline longer than that, the games simply will not launch until you reconnect. This change does not affect any titles already in your library. Setting a console as your primary system also will not bypass the monthly check-in.

It's interesting seeing the industry double down on proving just how badly end of life plans are needed for games. This is exactly the sort of thing #StopKillingGames wants regulators / MEPs to see. Customers increasingly have no protections when it comes to video games.

Hugely terrible DRM has now been rolled out to all PS4 and PS5 digital games. Every digital game you buy now requires an online check-in every 30 days. If you buy a digital game and don't connect your console to the internet for 30 days, your license will be removed.
