John Thune is once again backstabbing the MAGA movement by using reconciliation as political theater to strip out the most important provisions of Voter ID.

The Senate is sidestepping the SAVE America Act. During the last reconciliation, the parliamentarian stripped out a significant amount. Now the Senate is looking to play the blame game with the parliamentarian. Under reconciliation, you can’t legislate policy, meaning you CANNOT include the Save America Act. I will be a NO on reconciliation. Stop sidestepping America, @LeaderJohnThune. They’re literally trying everything they can to get out of voting for Voter ID and it is disgusting.

Taken together, dominant statewide performance, majority support inside the conference, and massive financial backing, he enters the next cycle in a position that is, for all practical purposes, unbeatable. This is why he feels comfortable blocking the SAVE Act, the President’s nominees, and his agenda.

The SAVE America Act cannot procedurally be passed through reconciliation. The parliamentarian will strip out provisions like voter ID, etc. Any Republican senator claiming it can be done that way is LYING. The SAVE America Act only stands a chance if it is attached to FISA.
