@RockbottomRo The movie was amazing but a movie like that is only going to go so far in terms of critical acclaim. Iโd give it an 8 or 9 out of 10 but itโs by design lacking the depth of a movie like interstellar. They werenโt going for that and thatโs okay. It did exactly what it aimed for.

I didn't even say it's a bad movie because I really enjoyed it and that fact that it was so hopeful in a see of depressing movies was refreshing. People will get pressed about absolutely anything these days

@ingloriousClos It was a good movie but I didn't think it was the best sci-fi movie of all time, which is how people are treating it. Those two things can be true at the same time, people are getting mad about it for no reason.

@lastautotroph That was my thought exactly, but the point of autobalancing centrifuges is that it makes it easy to balance when you have an uneven number of samples but he literally had two tubes ๐ญ but I'll give them the benefit of the doubt

@RockbottomRo @Marevicko Ahhh freaking same but then I heard that autobalancing centrifuges exist??? Plus a society as advanced as theirs would probably have something like that so I ended up cooling off lol but initially, yeah I was like โthis is where they dropped the science!?!?!?โ

@Marevicko No, it was a minute detail๐ญ he didn't balance the centrifuge while spinning his samples down, that's what I'm talking about. No molecular biologist would make that mistake ๐

@RockbottomRo I think they must have shot that as well but cut it down for the pace. the first rough cut of all shot scenes was 3 hr 45 mins.

@waystarbobco No I'm talking about a very very small 2 second scene ๐ญ๐ญ๐ญ and it's a vital part of day to day lab life and they somehow forgot about that minute detail

I used to intern under a well renowned professor at IISC and whenever I summed up the courage to ask him questions he dismissed me and said he didn't have the time for my unimportant questions and I should speak to his students instead

I hear many prospective PhD students say things like, โWow, imagine being advised by [insert some famous professors].โ Yeah, but actually, the more famous they are, the less likely you are to have much interaction with your advisor. Itโs typically much better to have a rising-star professor as your advisor if you want real supervision and support.
