@junhagemay I've used many a squat toilets in Japan.
Admittedly in more Countryside places like Nagano.
They are actually more healthy to use than western style toilets.

If this is Japan, then of course it isn't right.
This behaviour is not appropriate on trains in most Countries.
It just gives the impression that perhaps the parents are thick, and maybe live by the concept that their children are the centre of this Universe. Thus don't teach them proper manners whilst in public.
Just an opinion, not fact.
