When I haul my harvest to town, I drive onto the scale to get my gross weight (the weight of my full truck), unload my product, then drive back onto the scale to get my tare weight (the weight of my empty truck). That gives me my net weight (the weight of my load), so I can settle up with the buyer. I've been doing this for a while now—46 harvests with Sharla, and all the trips with my dad before that—so I've gotten pretty good at guessing how many hundreds of bushel I'm hauling based on how the drive feels. This time, I was off by just 3 bushels. 😎
