Tbf, that's kinda something the manga touches upon. The entire Pt2 is leading to the end of the world, but while it's happening right in front of them, they eventually get desensitized towards it. Just like IRL, we are at the end of the world and here we are talking about a manga

A big problem with Chainsaw Man Part 2 to me is that it went way too dark and way too fast. CSM Church is the kind of devastating arc I'd see at the tail end of the story NOT IN THE MIDDLE OF IT. If more than half your manga has really fucked up stuff, you get desensitized to it.
