Going forward, now that I have access to the @T2TProspects accounts, all cards are going to be posted on there outside of a few special occasions so make sure to follow! For #Flames Potter & Wyttenbach, both elite D+1 seasons The model prefers Potter’s all around skillset but Wyttenbach’s productivity is hard to deny and ultimately gives him the slight edge in overall final rankings

Many were surprised to see Michael Hage snubbed as a Hobey Baker finalist, and his card backs up the eye test. He has nearly nothing left to prove at the NCAA level and could be a top-six piece for the #GoHabsGo for a long time!

@RyanMaScouting Chernyshov should hurt more because he was actually available to draft. And he could be helping the leafs now He was easily the best player available. Danford still should be decent.

@Bruins4Life213 @Mike556553251 @T2TProspects @mattdolloff Yeah, the source data frequently updates after every game but unfortunately the heights and weights aren’t updated very frequently so all players are usually an inch or so shorter and their weights are usually off by a bit as well.

I fail to see the point of this comment… we use underlying tracking data from throughout the year and apply our model to it in order to generate these scores that are broad in nature so they’re more easily digestible for average fans… It’s not like we went into MS paint and randomly pulled numbers out… he played well this year, the model recognized that he played well so his card looked good…

@T2TProspects @mattdolloff These graphs are hilarious Kid did great…let’s whip up something colorful, heavy on the green which means good…make up a bunch of arbitrary metrics like “efficiency” and “involvement”😂, put scores, give him a grade He’s 6’2 225lbs, scored a pt per game…we know he’s good🤡

Jonathan Castagna is the sole prospect the #Flames got in the Mackenzie Weegar trade from #TusksUp A late bloomer, the Cornell FWD has been a Top 30 F in College Hockey this year in his D+3 with strong skating & a hardworking playstyle A good, translatable bottom six projection

I would say definitely more so the second one. They’re similar players at this current stage in terms of impact, but McKenna we expect to be better in the long run because of development. The model is meant primarily to gage current on ice impact and then prioritizing/ordering similar impacts by assigning higher value to younger players

@RyanMaScouting @JamesConnelly37 @fellachance @T2TProspects So should I assume that Hage and Mckenna are projected the same impact at any unknown standardised age (let's say they're both 27) as of TODAY or should I understand that they're evaluated at their own rspctv age, therefore Mckenna being superior because we expect progression?

@Loubrass2 @JamesConnelly37 @fellachance @T2TProspects I should’ve explained this better but the age adjustment is relatively minor. So yes I suppose it’s not exactly how they would be on the ice today, but it’s primarily impact based.

Because then wouldn't age be factored in twice? :Mckenna's age bumps him up AND he'll get better between now and Hage?

@Loubrass2 @JamesConnelly37 @fellachance @T2TProspects In terms of overall impact with everything taken into account, yes, the model regards both Hage and McKenna very similarly if they were to both step on the ice for a game tonight Even if the strengths and weaknesses will differ, they’re both elite college players at this stage

But then that also means your model likes Michael Hage almost as much as Gavin Mckenna, while considering evrt, am I right? 👀 That's all I'm willing to hear 😁😉.

We love getting people interested in the cards, and trying to understand the inner logic behind them We’ve put a lot of effort into trying to mold the underlaying data so that it can create a comprehensive overall picture of players and their relative impact against their peers and adding historical context outside of the traditional counting stats

This is a great question! We do take into account TOI, role, and deployment in our grading! All stats are standardized to per/60 so Hage’s lower TOI means he actually benefits in a lot of the raw scores As a result we actually tend to give slight bonuses to players that play more as it showcases their role and importance to their team, as well as boosts for players that play a more heavy defensive zone deployment

And also, since TOI data has just recently started getting tracked for NCAA players, are there attempts at standardising productions for TOI?
