A few college baseball notes: -Louisville, fresh off a revival tour that got them back to the CWS last season, has started the season 0-2 at home to Michigan State. The Cards raided the MAC adding Ohio’s Ben Slacker and Kent State’s Jake Bean. “Slacker” certainly hasn’t been one so far going 5 for 7 with 5 of the Cards’ 7 RBI. Bean, who was Kent State’s Friday starter, pitched on Saturday and got rocked allowing 5 earned runs in 3.2 innings of work. -Oklahoma State (0-2) has been outscored 22-3, but the Cowboys have played Arkansas and Oklahoma with Vanderbilt next. Reading some social media rants, OSU fans are not happy with Coach Holiday. -Texas Tech (0-2) is in the same event as Oklahoma State and suffering a similar fate. The Red Raiders have been outscored 23-6 in loses to Vandy and Oklahoma. It won’t get any easier playing Arkansas today. -Arizona (0-2) is the other winless Big 12 school, but the Wildcats have been more competitive losing to Stanford and Oregon State. They’ve get Michigan today. -Finally, two future UC opponents, BYU and Western Kentucky, have completed three of their four games. The Hilltoppers have won 2 of the 3. The Cougars have struggled offensively scoring only 7 runs in the three low scoring contests.
