Yes, existed and had nothing to do with Pakistan. Again, there's nothing called 'ancient Pakistan'. When you live in a state formed in 1948 exclusively on religious base you can not claim roots older not only of your state but of your own religion too

as an Indian hindu bengali I think I'm culturally closer to an odia person than a bangladeshi bengali muslim. pakistani culture is all about cousin marriage but in north India the same is taboo. Even beyond religion, there is very little cultural similarity i think.
