Today a doctor on the picket line said to me: “MPs have had a 42.7% increase since 2008, Junior Doctors have had a 25% decrease since 2010. So let’s not have MPs saying that pay restoration for doctors is unaffordable. We have families to feed as well.” A fair point indeed.

The junior doctors operating on your appendix are paid just £66.55 between them. For a potentially life-saving procedure, which lasts about an hour. Is this a fair price to put on high quality healthcare? #PayRestoration #JuniorDoctorsStrike

Mr Barclay neglects to mention the huge number of appointments that have already been rearranged and delayed in advance of the strikes - the disruption has *already happened* because he was unwilling to negotiate with the BMA.

From the Guardian, this isn't true. The BMA has a national network of professional negotiators that do this with Drs every day of every week & we work as a team. What the Government source means is 'We haven't faced this level of determination from other health unions'. 1/2

The question isn't-How much should Jnr Drs be paid? The question is-Do I want a Dr to be there for me when I'm ill? If yes,we to pay them properly They're leaving Relying on consciences of young people with 100k+ of debt is not an effective workforce strategy #payrestoration

Message for jnr Drs; take action, demonstrate your huge worth by withholding your labour. This is about fairness & has an enormous mandate. Consultants & SAS will cover. Whether you're a ST7 or F1 you have much to gain. Stand together & don't be sweet talked into strike breaking

Anyone who is serious about reducing crime would offer a real alternative to austerity, poverty & alienation. That means giving young people opportunities and building economic security. And it means investing in our communities to create a fairer, safer society for all.

As I’ve said for 35 years, safe health & care systems require safe staffing levels. Without the right number of skilled staff available, universal care falls to pieces & avoidable harm is everywhere. The staff that remain in an understaffed service will strike out of desperation.
