The Left needs to unite against fascism Picking at each others positions and arguing amongst ourselves misses the bigger point: We are fighting against a manufactured fascism that threatens all our freedoms My new article for my newsletter open.substack.com/pub/danielgoya…

On #bbcqt, James Orr claimed: "We have never, and Nigel Farage has never said that the #NHS could be anything other but free at the point of delivery." This statement is not accurate: it's misleading in its absolute form. While Farage and Reform UK have consistently pledged that the NHS would remain free at the point of delivery/use (meaning no direct charges to patients when accessing care), Farage has repeatedly said the current model could (and in his view should) change in fundamental ways, specifically by moving away from funding via general taxation toward alternatives like insurance-based systems (e.g., referencing French-style social insurance or other mechanisms). This means he has suggested the NHS could be "something other" than the existing tax-funded Beveridge model, even while insisting on no charges at the point of use. Key Evidence from Farage's Own Statements (Post-2024): In a January 2025 LBC interview, when asked if he was "completely committed to free at the point of delivery," Farage replied yes. But he immediately added he was "open to anything" on funding models, including an insurance-based one (e.g., French-style), as long as care remains free at the point of delivery. He said: "If we could get a more efficient, better funding model, provided we give free care at the point of delivery, I’m prepared to consider anything." He has explicitly stated: "I do not want [the NHS] funded through general taxation. It doesn’t work... I want it free at the point of delivery." In other recent contexts (e.g., interviews and comments up to 2025–2026), Farage has called for a "fundamental rethink" of NHS funding, praised aspects of insurance models (like France's, where mandatory contributions fund universal coverage), and suggested exploring alternatives while maintaining free access. Reform UK's 2024 manifesto and repeated statements affirm the NHS "will always be free at the point of use" for British citizens, with no plans to introduce charges. Farage himself posted in January 2025: "The NHS will always be free at the point of delivery under a Reform government," in response to Labour criticisms. Why the Claim is Misleading: Orr's wording ("never said that the NHS could be anything other but free at the point of delivery") implies no deviation from the status quo at all. But Farage has openly discussed, and indeed shown openness to, changing the funding and delivery model (e.g., shifting from pure general taxation to insurance/contributory systems), which would make the NHS "something other" than it is today in structure and operation. Critics argue that this could lead to indirect costs, a two-tier system (via tax relief for private insurance), or risks to universality, even if Farage insists on no direct charges. In summary: Farage has not advocated ending free access at the point of use, but he has advocated alternatives to the current tax-funded system. The absolute claim that he's "never said" it could be "anything other" ignores his repeated calls for rethinking funding, making Orr's statement misleading or false in its blanket form. This is a common point of contention in political debates around Reform UK's health policy.

This week on #bbcqt, arguably the most dangerous man in Britain that few voters have even heard of: Reform UK's anti-abortion #NatCon Head of Policy and Peter Thiel associate, James Orr, who is facilitating the transfer of control of Britain to #MAGA extremists. FFS WAKE UP!

When I said some Reform supporters are racist, this is what I had in mind. I will always stand against those who try to divide us with hate. 👇

Marina is absolutely spot on. If Nick Timothy said that Jewish people gathering in Trafalgar Square was a domination. He would've been sacked.

I’m on my way to Cuba for an emergency 3-day visit. I’ll be delivering medical aid to a children’s cancer hospital and joining an international delegation of MPs opposed to Trump’s new ban on any fuel entering the country. This cruel policy is putting lives at risk. It is an inhumane attempt to strangle the Cuban people. And Trump is even threatening that Cuba could be “next” after Iran. We must take a stand.

If the Israeli attack on the South Pars gas field results in an infrastructure war, targeting energy and water facilities, it could collapse the Gulf region and create 100 million refugees. The global economy is at the brink, all because the US won't lock up its fucking paedos.
