Throwaway game mechanic: The player attempts to activate some power and guesses a card If they get it 100% wrong, the power fails If they get the suit right, they get a small effect If they get the number right, they get a big effect If entire card right, mega critical effect

Once, consulting for a friend’s police procedural RPG, she needed names for five stats. I said they should all be body parts that complete the sentence “the kid’s got ___ but he’s a loose cannon” and got Heart, Guts, Brains, Muscle, and Nerve and I’ll never be that good again

@Gooseguy99 Lots of folks have said this, but it’s not a body part and it’s VERY tied to a certain era that would have been out of place in a modern-setting game. Not to mention it didn’t fit the mechanics or tone of any of the moves the stats applied to!

if all you do is playtest ttrpgs and/or stream playing ttrpgs, i strongly deeply passionately encourage you to take some of the people you trust most and gather together and play for the sake of playing for a bit
