Having attended hundreds of police calls over 23 years in the Met I know that officers are most likely to believe two people who are first to claim what happened because it is almost always true. If only the Henry Nowak officer had been slower to handcuff a man lying on the ground we would not be talking about this.

Thoughts are with those brave police officers in Southampton tonight facing appalling thuggish behaviour by people who just want to be violent and riot. The same people claiming they’re doing it in Henry’s name when the family clearly don’t want this.
