Good (?) news is that I can repro on my side as well. I'll log a bug and we'll address it soon (a couple of things are currently ahead of it).

@EricaToelle Agreed. I can confirm that this has been requested, Microsoft Digital -> AAD. Definitely feels like it should be group owner configurable.

It doesn't seem like there is an end user option to configure this. It's a huge gap - have to use a group for Teams, Planner, etc. But anyone can find it and email the group with no approval, even if it's a private site.

I have an M365 Group that is used for site permissions. Because of the name people are finding it in the GAL and emailing it with questions, spamming everyone. What do I do? Ideally, no one would be able to email the group. No Exchange Admin or PowerShell access.

@EricaToelle There are three switches I frequently set, the first being what I think you want: -Hide from GAL -Hide from Exchange clients -Disable welcome message T2 of global helpdesk can do this on request.

@ArnaudBelingaCX I don't think it's unpopular for startups (in fact, it's encouraged). It's def. unpopular once you get into the corporate world. Notice how there are no current Apple, Microsoft employees Tweeting or publishing on LinkedIn? >.<
