apa.org/topics/lgbtq/o… TLDR in regards to our conversation, research is actually incomplete, but the general consensus is that sexual orientation is SHAPED by a variety of factors that cannot be pinned down to a root cause, it is NOT SOMETHING YOU CAN CHOOSE ON A WHIM. The mistake I made was conflating information about being trans and gender identity with being gay/bi (science suggests that trans people are the ones who are innately born that way), so while I was incorrect when it comes to gay/bi people, my point still stands that it isn’t a choice and that a loving god wouldn’t punish his children for something they can’t control.

Do you want just information based on general science regarding how we know you’re born with your sexuality? Or do you want a direct counter to your claim with being able to change sexuality? Because literally any reputable study on what a colossal failure conversion therapy is will tell you it’s not possible even in the environment to change it

That has nothing to do with your sexuality. You’re bringing up behavioral shifts based on the environment you’re living in, that has no effect on sexuality whether positive or negative. As I’ve said again, the only “change” will be allowing someone to better understand their sexuality, or social/parental shunning forcing people into the closet or to be confused about why they have certain feelings. I’ve been friends with LGBTQ people for almost a decade and not a single time have I ever doubted being straight or cis, because that’s what I was born as, I can’t become gay or trans because I want to

Your environment doesn’t shape your sexuality, the only way it would have ANY factor is if you are around people that shun your sexuality simply for existing (people with religious psychosis) and even then, that’s not changing your sexuality, it’s just suppressing who you always were. How old are u exactly? U have a very naive way of thinking. Dating isn’t even a big aspect of sexuality. You can have sex with someone or just be attracted to them without the romantic aspect because sexual attraction isn’t reliant on “dating”, they just overlap when you gain a romantic attraction for someone and want to pursue a long term relationship
