@Mrs_A_Wall @TempletonAcad @gcouros @NLESDCA I learned from my colleagues that I need to take time for myself for my mental health as well as my physical health so I’m joining a swimming areobic class with a friend.

@Mrs_A_Wall We often look elsewhere for wisdom when in fact if we look hard enough we can find it inside of our school through our colleagues and students.
English

@Mrs_A_Wall @TempletonAcad @gcouros @NLESDCA Bringing in an item they are not familiar with and having them guess what it is and what it is used for. Having children learn through play and exploration has provided lots of valuable learning opportunities.

@Mrs_A_Wall @TempletonAcad @gcouros @NLESDCA I had a prof tell me I couldn’t write in my first year of college. What he had to say will remain with me for a life time. My confidence was shattered! Because of this I’m more aware of what I say to my students and how those words can have a profound effect on them.
English

@Mrs_A_Wall @TempletonAcad @gcouros @NLESDCA Having daily check-ins with students allowing them time to talk face to face with me about anything they want.

@Mrs_A_Wall @TempletonAcad @gcouros @NLESDCA I have been inspired by my staff members and students who bring so much wealth of knowledge and expertise to our school. One thing that I will put into practice is allowing students time to reflect on their daily learning. #edchat

@MarkDBradbury1 @TempletonAcad @gcouros @NLESDCA From watching a video game the student made his own virtual world by using stick-on decals. It was amazing to see how engaged he was completing this activity.

“Technology is just a tool. If you don’t choose to use it in transformational ways, nothing changes.” How do your students tap into their creativity using technology in your classrooms?#InnovateInsidetheBox @TempletonAcad @gcouros @NLESDCA #NLESDDL #edchat

@MarkDBradbury1 @TempletonAcad @gcouros @NLESDCA Some of the choices I provide would be play base activities, artistic expressions, written expressions, oral presentations, slide shows, audio, etc.
English

“Too often, teachers give students options, but they do not give them choices.” What type of choices do students have in your classroom to demonstrate their learning?#InnovateInsidetheBox @TempletonAcad @gcouros @NLESDCA #NLESDDL #edchat
English

@MarkDBradbury1 @TempletonAcad @gcouros @NLESDCA Allow students open ended choices so they can explore their own learning goals.
English

“Too often the need to create gets “schooled” out of them before they leave elementary school” How do you allow students to use their creativity in your classroom?#InnovateInsidetheBox @TempletonAcad @gcouros @NLESDCA #NLESDDL #edchat

@steveperchard @MarkDBradbury1 @TempletonAcad @gcouros @NLESDCA The answer is the small piece of the puzzle. How you solved the problem is more important I believe.
English

@MarkDBradbury1 @TempletonAcad @gcouros @NLESDCA Can we create assignments where students are awarded for taking risks, even if they don’t get the right answers?
English

@MarkDBradbury1 @TempletonAcad @gcouros @NLESDCA Providing them with choices to engage in activities that are of interest to them and assessing using different means such as artistic expressions, oral communication, written responses, etc.

“Too often, we design our classrooms so that students become knowledgeable, but how often do we ask them to become resourceful?” How do you enable students to be resourceful in your classroom?#InnovateInsidetheBox #gcouros #NLESDDL #edchat
English

@steveperchard @NLESDCA Having a student teach me how to play Super Mario. He was so confident in his ability to show me the steps in playing the game. We made a strong connection allowing him to shine in his field of expertise.
English

@steveperchard @NLESDCA I believe if students see us taking risk they will be more willing to take risk too. Letting them know we don’t know all the answers allows them to see us in a different manner which results in us making connections with them.
