Wow. As a teenager, I would sit with my head buried between my cheap stereo speakers listening to this song. This version from the Late Show is gentler and wiser and beautiful.

@SunyeJulien Exactly! When I backed away from marketing, my work immediately got much better. It wasn’t until I accidentally got into wedding painting that I found something that was both personally and financially rewarding.

@SkipRohde Fair point. I suppose its the eternal struggle, turn your passion into a business at the risk of losing your passion, or keep them separate.

GM! I'm following almost 50% less accounts than yesterday. But, my feed is filled with posts from people i don't follow. It's crazy. (Yes it's filter setting is on "following"). Also, the amount of artsts and collectors that left is shocking. I knew some left, but it's almost like there's just a handfull of us left. What are we even still doing here 😂

@SunyeJulien Years ago, I decided to separate my income-producing activities from my art-making activities and it has worked out well. I make more income from other sources than my art could provide, and my art is better because it's driven just by me.

@SunyeJulien I have another website for my personal work: skiprohde.com and my IG is another source. I've done commissioned portraits but never really marketed them. Thank you for the kind support - it means something coming from someone I respect.

@SunyeJulien Thank you for assuming I sell my work! 😅 I rarely sell my personal works. My studio is financed by my live wedding painting work. I do about 9 or 10 per year and that gives me the freedom to do my own stuff. You can see it at ashevilleeventpaintings.com

@SunyeJulien Yeah, the NFT community was creative and interesting and then crashed. I was on Saatchi but don’t even know if my account is still there. Good luck finding an active online creative community!

I cancelled my subscription yesterday. Had it for a month but didn't feel right, plus, i can confirm it makes zero difference in visibility. I'm going to see if Saatchi and ArtMajeur are good places to connect with the art community instead. For photography we had a booming NFT community a while back. A few linger. Including myself I suppose.

I painted this about five years ago as a warning of what might happen if we didn't get our collective acts together. I keep having to repost it because it's happening more and more. "Submit", oil on canvas, 45"x45".
